GETTING TO THE POP WARNER SUPER BOWL:

The road to the National Championship is a long one for the football players, cheerleaders and dancers of the Pop Warner Little Scholars program.

Players begin practicing on August 1 in preparation for their season openers, usually held during the last week in August or first week in September. A participant can be considered eligible for the season when he/she has met the four basic criteria for participation: A candidate must provide proof of age, parental consent, a medical examination, and academic fitness.

What makes Pop Warner unique as an organization is our commitment to academic excellence among our participants. A participant must maintain a 2.0 Grade Point Average/70 percent in school in order to participate during the season.

If a child doesn’t reach the 2.0/70% requirement, a Scholastic Eligibility Form is filled out by that child’s school to determine whether or not the PWLS program is beneficial for him/her. Once this is determined, the child’s grades are monitored throughout the season. Our objective is to build sound minds and bodies for our leaders of tomorrow.

A football team plays a 7 to 9 game schedule and at the end of the regular season, usually during the last week in October, a team prepares for league playoffs. Playoff games are only for the Junior Peewee, Peewee, Junior Midget, and Midget levels. We do not have playoffs at our Mitey-Mite level.

Once a league champion has been decided and a team has won the right to participate in regional championships, all report cards are verified to ensure that all the players are academically eligible. Those teams that win at the regional championships are invited to Disney’s Wide World of Sports™ to compete for a national championship in their division. In 2000, more excitement was added to Pop Warner football when a Division II national championship was added and in 2005, Pop Warner began crowning overall Divsion I champions for Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee & Jr. Midget.

The Pop Warner Super Bowl takes place at Disney’s Wide World of Sports™ Complex.

Mountain Valley Conference

Football Playoffs and Post Season Play



The regular season is eight weeks and usually begins the last weekend of August or the first weekend of September and continues through the end of October or beginning of November. Post season play can consist of Bowl Games, Regional Playoffs or Garden State Games.

Mountain Valley Conference participates in the Eastern Region Football Championships, which lead to the Pop Warner National Championships and the Pop Warner Garden State Games.

Individual teams may enter into Friendship or Bowl games which are games hosted by other Leagues. There is a maximum number of games allowed, both regular, pre and post season as found in the National Rule Book.  MVC approval is required for participation in any Bowl games.

Regional Championship games in November consist of multiple rounds to determine the Eastern Region Champions who continue onto the Pop Warner National Super Bowl in Disney in early December. There are playoffs in Disney to determine the National Champions at each division of play in playing Divisions I, II and III.

The Garden State Games are run by the five New Jersey Pop Warner Leagues. There are multiple rounds in early November which lead to the Garden State Championships in late November.

For the Mountain Valley Conference, each competitive division of play, Jr Pee Wee, Pee Wee, Jr Midget and Midget, will have the two top teams, as defined by the best winning percentage (formula found in the football section of the forms page), play in the MVC Chmapionships to determine the Champions. There are no championships declared at the Mitey Mite level, but Mitey Mites are allowed one post season Bowl game.

The MVC Champions are given the option to enter into the Eastern Region Championship playoffs as the MVC Champions or to attend the Garden State Games. If Regional play is selected then the runner up in the MVC Championship game can attend the Garden State Games as the MVC Representative. If Garden State Games are choosen by the MVC Champions, they will retain the title of MVC Champions and the runner up may attend the Regional playoffs as the MVC Representatives (not MVC Champions).

MVC has had many teams excel on the playing field and enter into both Regional Championships, continue onto to Disney and also is a League of multiple Pop Warner National Champions and Garden State Champions.
